    Hello all,

I'm looking for any feedback from owners of 2011+ D16 powered trucks. I have heard that the engine has been greatly improved and the fuel mileage is better as well.
I'm considering spec'ing a 780 with D16-500XE/2050 with the iShift and 2.64 or possibly the new 2.47 rears on 22.5s.
I have also considered going for the 600hp rating as well.

    Any input is appreciated!

    Thanks!!

d16 might have been greatly inproved but this is one of those engines that there is very few shops that are willing to work on them and even fewer that know what is really going with them so it's almost a dealer only option when it comes to repairs. I would suggest that if you want to go with d16 make sure that they figured out the cooling system on the 780 or 670 to support this engine the older ones like 07 used to have a solenoid that would actually pump air psi in the cooling system so they could manage the boiling point because they did not have a big enough cooling system the only one i know it worked pretty well on it was the 880 volvo. I know they updated injector hold down's and valve seats in the head this was causing them to have a lot of issues as far as dropping the valves in the engine they also updated injector cups( didn't make them any better but it's an update)

I can't help with the D16, but why for the 500hp rating? The D13 is available @500hp.

sounds like your specing out a xe16 80000lbs version. I have the 140000lbs version and am getting great fuel mileage (for what I do)

I absolutely eat up cummins and detroit on the hills and I do it without shifting a gear and saving more fuel than them.

ours is a 2014 and at 80000km we did injector cups and at 160000km injector update. zero emmisions issues and we're at 300000km 6000hours now.

I have a 2015 780 with the d16 and 2.64 rears. It's the 140 k lbs version. I love it pulls well and arms starting to get great fuel mileage in the upper 7's only have 32 k mi on it so far so not broke in yet

Awesome. Your fuel mileage sounds great. Much better than 1st gen D16

I have a D13XE now with 2.64s and iShift and love it but I miss the D16s raw power
