i work at a shop and we have a few volvo's in the fleet, and while they ride really good and are comfortable to drive, they are an electrical nightmare. at one point or another they all have been to the dealer ship for something or another and they only have 100,000-140,000 miles.

How did you like the 780? I have friend with one and he loves it! Gets crazy good fuel mileage.

Couple weeks ago talked to an owner of mid sized carrier with 10 2011's. No modifications and getting 8-9 mpg. All reefer company pulling mostly 40K+ loads, Fl to MI and back. He said he is dumping Cascadias and going 100% Volvo and willing to pay extra for 780's for whole fleet.

I know from other conversations he is not happy with constant Cascadia issues but didn't ask about what he has seen from 780.

I run a 2011 780 pulling HHG, this is my second first was a 2007 both have cummins engines with 535hp and 13speed tran not to many problems. The 2011 does not have the low end torque my 2007 had so I find myself downshifting more on mountains than with my previous truck. Other than that I have no major complaints it rides nice, the noise in the cab and sleeper is minimal.

I looked at one the other day. Sweet truck. I just think it's too heavy for what I do. I think the weight ticket they had was right at 20k with no fuel. I'm think about going with a 670 if the price is right but I'd really rather have the bigger space.

I looked really hard at one but after the year with my "Crapcadia" its would have been a streatch to get into another new truck. That said, with repairs etc I'm spending almost the same per month with the 07 I bought as the 780 would have cost, and I am def not getting the MPG's it would have gotten me. The thing that actually made me walk away from the Volvo was the financing. I wanted it over 5 yrs but would put my quartly sales tax refund directly on the balance which would get me out in less than 4 yrs if I stuck with it, no go with Volvo, you can't make lump sum pmts on their plan, then informed me there is a 6 month interest pnelty if you pay the note out early. I walked at that point. Too bad, I really like new stuff..

I have a 2011 midroof version of the 780 with an I-shift purchased new last year. I love this truck. The I-shift is awsome. Have 92,000 on it presently. Have not had any issues except a few NOX sensors going out in the exhaust aftertreatment system (this is the system that uses the DEF). Will see how the next 100,000 miles go.
