What is an idle cut off sensor?
I would think maybe bypassing the ECM would be the best place to start seeing that is where an idle shutoff occurs.Mike Smith Thanks this. -
Usually you just press the clutch for a second after the light comes on.
It is that way on my Volvo, and it was the same with another truck - but I don't remember if it was the ProStar or Cascadia.
In the other truck I had to enable and set the cruise control, again only once the shut off warning is visible.
There is only about a 30 second window to do it.
And some companies have it set up differently. -
You can't bypass the ambient air sensor they use to prevent idling between predetermined temperatures. The sensor used to be under the cat walk and also before that near the front bumper. I heard in the 2015 and forward they moved the sensor into the mirror so drivers couldn't screw with it. The problem is that sensor is used by the motor as well so when guys were putting glove heaters on them they were also screwing up the motors.
Best you can do is release the tractor brakes if you have the trailer set. Then it will idle a little longer than just 3 minutes. Option 2 build some weird device that taps the accelerator every 2 minutes. -
Put a pipe wrench on the throttle.
