A E model CAT will usually crack a coolant passage around the valve seat area and leak inside the motor. I have never seen a external leak between the block and head like a cummins motor. Way to see if you have a cracked head on a E model is after running it down the road, shut it off for 5 minutes, start it back up, if it smokes white like a tractor puller then you have a head problem. Most of them will crack a head before the head gasket will go as well.

If you have a compression check done, you may find one or more cylinders on the low side.
Low compression doesn't light the fuel and will produce white smoke, (unburned fuel),as soon as the cylinder gets a little heat in it, it starts firing and the smoke goes away, it usually doesn't take long and normally isn't a problem. -

Just had head done on an MBN.. cracked tween valves on #4. Would slowly push coolant out of overflow. Went several months like that, till I just drove it into shop and pulled head before it hydrolocked on me... No leak to the outside, and nothing dropped in the oil. Fixed it in time.
