Hello. I am getting a tractor from lone mountain and I want to lease it onto a company and pull reefer or dry. I can even lease my own trailer if needed. Anyone know any companys that will give me a chance with only 8 months experience? I'm also only age 22. I'm from Nashville, TN. Currently an OTR driver who livrs on road for the past 8 months.

Just do 4 more months and then go to Landstar, and you'll live happily ever after.

Insurance will kill you being so young with under a year of experience. I know when I was getting quotes I'd change my experience to a year and the rates would go from $6kish to $10-12k. So maybe stick it out for a few more months and get your year in at least.

The way the market is looking right now I think you would be way money ahead getting hired onto a good company that pays well.

Save some money for another year working company and than take another look at the market.

Usually I am all for being independent and self sufficient, but I think in today's market with you paying a large lease payment along with high insurance for your age would be a huge risk right now.

Check Associated Grocer Warehouse in Goodlettsville. When I worked there as a company driver & many of my friends there were 0/0's there. It's all customer unload & driver just counts the pallets the customer pulls off. The customer signs for "X" number of pallets only. I did the long haul stuff such as orange juice loads out of Florida or canned goods out of California, etc. Maybe haul butter out of Smyrna to Florida or Texas then a backhaul back to Goodlettsville.
All this may have changed, but worth checking in to.
Strangest load I hauled there was newsprint out of Donnely Printing in Franklin,KY to Bufflao,NY then apple flavored salt blocks from upstate NY to Alabama. Those salt blocks are used to bait deer, which is illegal.
