I need to replace my rusty sleeper vent -- Is it a DIY job? Does it just rest inside that weather stripping, kinda like a trailer taillight?

Yeah, I think just the seal holds the vent in place. That seal opens up like a zipper along that middle seam line to split open and allow the vent to pop out. I would replace the seal too, as that one will be hard and stiff to work with. To make assembly easier I spray the seal with some kind of spray lubricant to help it fold back together. You see how it starts and ends at the very bottom, that is where you start to separate it and then end there, and then repeat in opposite order to reassemble.
seal is 2031964C1
Vent is 3894243C1
bug screen is 3515057C1 (you need 2 of these if necessary)silver dollar, truckon, mp4694330 and 2 others Thank this. -

I have not reinstalled the interior trim piece yet, but I don't think it adds any support. -
Is the new vent thinner or something?
