@tucker is 30-sem-odd years old; eats McDonald's everyday, healthy as a horse! Don't you disparage that fine culinary institution! An American staple!

    :D

One day when I was driving tow truck, got called for a hearse with a flat tire and no spare.
Got there, and they told me they had just driven 80 miles on a hot summer day, and were about to be late to the graveside service at the nearby cemetery...

So I hooked up and towed them a mile, and dropped them next to the open grave, still with a blown tire, and got out of the place just as the family was starting to arrive.

Then after the service, they called back and we took them to the tire shop!

They had AAA, so we just put it through as a tow to tire shop, and did the second half quietly. Figured it was a good public service to the Native Son.

Oh, and they warned us that as the body heats up, they start leaking internally, and the head is towards the rear, so if we picked the front up, they would leak out the mouth, and it would really stink.
I think we had to swap tires so we could pick up at the back!

I actually wasn't the one who took the call, but when the senior guy got there, he asked me to come over, because he didn't want anything to do with it! Lol
(I thought it was kinda cool... ;) course, I also did FD and Ambulance, so I had dealt with fresh dead bodies before...)

It's incredibly shameful you didn't call to make sure the driver was ok.

Twice i have been at the J in Gretna, NE and drivers have been found dead in the sleeper. Both times it was suspected a heart attack. About 6 years between the two incidents.

Hey X, lets go get a pizza, or some spaghetti! Yum!:D
Both are smells you never forget. Nor really get used to. You just deal with it and do what you have to do. Puking can come later......

This probably has as much truth to it as those brand new military jeeps that you could buy for twenty five bucks. They were still in the crate, so some assembly was required. That kept going around for at least 20 years.....

    Studebaker Hawk Thanks this.
