Hauled pecan hulls and left the inside of my wagon really gummy and stained. So has anyone used acid to clean out the inside of a hopper? I know some things will leave the inside kind of rough to the touch and hang the load up. Dont really want to do that but other than getting inside with a diesel rag and then metal polish I'm not sure how to clean the mess out. Any suggestions?

Pecan hulls? Like the nut? Foodgrade acid? HOT water?
-
Yeah the nut. Haha well mainly the ground up shells. I need to restore the clean shiny look of my trailer. Has anyone put brighter on the inside?
-
So I'm going to go ahead and do it. Hope it works.

What about calling a tank wash and asking them? Maybe a trailer dealership that sells that kind of trailer, maybe they know?
-
Very true. Now why didn't I think of that. Ha

Just to update, I hot water and soap washed it. Followed that with a serious brightener soaking that removed any and every stain. Rinsed the acid out real good and gave it a coat of spray on wax. Worked great, looks brand new inside and everything slides out nice and smooth.

Hot water is the best! We use water that's like 200 some degrees. Hauling food grade is easy, until you have a load of heavy corn syrup that cooled down.
