Hi guys, I'm been doing some research to add another axel on my truck, I've seen a couple options; 1) the most common way to do it is between the fuel tank and the tandem, 2) extent the frame behind the existing diferencial and installed there, which could be the pros and cons in theses two options, thanks to all.

If you put it behind the drives you will have trouble come resale time. The reason being that you need a longer neck to reach the 5th wheel. Where the drop before the drives will pick weight off the steer the drop behind the drives will put weight onto the steer.

Thanks a lot C, so the main reason to have the drop forward of the drives are to take weight off the steer??

It also keeps your overall length shorter. With the haul truck I picked up yesterday I was 13,800 on the steer with the drop up and 11,600 with it down.

Just remember, if you go this route, just because you have the extra weight allowance Does NOT necessarily make it a heavy-haul truck. Depending on what you plan on hauling and where (ie- strictly on-road, in mud, sand, etc.) you'll also want to consider beefing up the frame, and adding a heavier steer axle and rear end.

    CAT-QBN Thanks this.

And have even axle spacings some states will not give you full weight
Hope the frame is rated for wanting to be a heavy hauler

Thanks Mud. That's in the board too, my plan is to upgrade to a 55, in a year but want to have the truck ready for when that happens

Who's pusher do you folks recommend. I've looked at Hendrickson or WC steerable. Any suggestions. 20K on both. Price is around 6,5K new. 13K unit for around 2.5K used. I haven't seen any 20k units used.
