Yes I am a motor carrier. Most all loads I pull are listed as 48k and 48' but are not. PLS and TQL list almost all their loads that way. The load I'm on right now is a PLS load and was listed as 48k and 48'. It's 20' and 7,000
My point is, call on every load your want and get the real details. Sign up for Landstar load alerts. They are pretty good at the details within load alerts but not posting correct info on the load boards.

What is the average pay per mile? My cost per mile is high and I'm getting 10 miles a gallon with my car loaded but that's ligh weight.

Here's another broker who is notorious for posting loads all the same as 48' and 48k. Many do the same. You need to figure out where you want to go and call on the load and get the real details. Many brokers list 48' and 48k so they don't let on it's 10' and 15k so you can put another LTL on. If your going to work off the load boards doing LTL can be a good option for you.

Also, don't always look at it from a mileage point. Figure a minimum rate per a day that you want. Double yellow put up two useful spread sheets and I'll link them when I get the chance. Good looking setup.

Here is the link to the spreadsheet doubleyellow made.
