I wonder what kind of company would MS Carriers be today had Swift not bought them out 14 yrs ago?

They had one or two at the Gary terminal they were using for storage last year. Probably still there.

Were you thinking MS Carriers was a good outfit? I remember them all day long on i81 in Virginia, always annoying 68mph trucks think they fast left lane riding idiots. Prime was actually faster at about 73mph or so company trucks back then always yelling at MS Carriers to get out the way.

    There are a couple. Maybe.

They would be getting old by now. Ugh. The last time I saw MS in regular service was racing them on the 81 ironton, testing our horses. And swift bought em clean out. Poof.

Hell there were a few old FFE trailers with decals ripped. In my area. I checked the unit numbers off the dust and found two that we hauled like 15 years ago. They were still in good situation what with the airride and all. But getting long in tooth. God only knows how many hours were on those reefer units.

Man trucking the 1990s with all those Freightliner FLDs and everything and all the companies that are not around anymore, would be interesting to go back in time.

Yea, we could go back in time and plug in to the Park n View at the truckstops. I remember in 98 had my first compaq laptop and doing that 56k high speed internet on steering wheel. Them truck drivers would walk by see me with laptop and be like "you some kind of scientist?" Lol

Funny thing is you can still find some truck stops with those park n view bumps in the ground.

Not only are the old ms trailers still around. I saw just yesterday an old freightliner cabover with the ms stripes pulling a step going down 81 in VA. Made me smile.

I'm pulling a MS Carriers (Swift) trailer load of used tires from the Richmond to the Phoenix terminals right now. Its been refurbished and actually tracks straight unlike too many of the newer trailers.

I just saw a pile of them, as well as 99-series Swift trailers, staged in a UPS lot in Carlisle. My guess is that they are leased for the season.

Maybe that means that there is actual parking available at Jonestown???

    Mike2633 Thanks this.
