My husband is a company driver with TMC. He is considering buyinga truck from them to be owner op. I have some questions on the best options and how it works.

I'm also a company driver with TMC and I was thinking about buying or leasing a truck from them. Then I started to notice the increase in o/o and lease drivers getting loads out of the higher paying locations. I think at some point in time with the over saturation of these new o/o ,lease drivers the available freight in those areas will become limited. If he wants to buy a truck from them he could lease on with Mercer, Landstar, and many others. How long has he been s driver with TMC?

Is he thinking of being an O/O with TMC or going elsewhere?

He's been there 3 years. He would like to stay at TMC. He has ESOP stock znd 401k and good health and life insurance. The used tmc trucks are at least $40k with 1 mil miles.

If he becomes an O/O or lease operator, he'll lose the company benefits as he won't be employed by them any longer.

He said he won't. I thought he would so I guess we should verify.

He's no longer an employee, he's become a contractor for them. No benefits. Self employed.

If he's doing good now, he ought to stay. Be careful of leasing programs, there are quite a few threads on the pitfalls.

    Research research research.
