“A $2,000 freightliner that was undamaged,”

I hope that's a misquote. Either that reporter's an idiot or the citizens of Sampson County NC have some awful law enforcement.

We once had a chop shop in our community with several going to prison. There's plenty of thieves out there.

Hope they catch every one of them.

WOW!!! There are several reports of stolen rigs on LandLine Magazine Twitter feed. Just posted to them so hopefully someone gets their Freightliner back.

Just another case of nobody proof reading the copy before it goes out. It passed spell check, so it MUST be OK...

Freightliners parts are in high demand. Everyone and his mother has one. Its like older Hondas are a popular theft item on the streets. Not that they have a high resale value,.. the parts business doesnt make money that way. Demand is everything.

2 yrs ago I picked up a non running 1998 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 off craigslist for $300. It was all there and in decent shape. Probably could have dropped a motor in it and it would have sold pretty easily. Instead,.. I called a couple salvage yards and asked what they would give me for it. I hauled it on my car trailer down to Tampa, they gave me $1200 for it. Easy flip.

My guess is there is a salvage yard or someone in the business behind it.

I once had a 1978 Caddy de ville, in about 1981 Our local salvage yard guy stopped by one day and wanted to offer me $400.00 for it, just replacing a radiator was $200.00, so no telling how much it was worth in salvage parts. Finally had to sell it to a car place when we moved. It needed work and only got about 5 m to the gal, of course gas was cheap then.
