Glad to hear it is going ok. Just a piece of advice from a fellow Shelbyville driver. Stay off rail road to get to the new bypass.

And ya'll need to start using all five fingers to wave not just one:biggrin_2552:

Yeah, they told us a few weeks ago to stay off of railroad now. i dont even use the bypass now that we cant go down railroad. Just remember if you get a one finger salute from a Corsicana driver, they hire anybody lo We have some good guys but there are a few that well, there are a few :biggrin_25513:

A note to all that might still wonder about this place. I am still hanging in there. Almost a year now. Fighting through busy season right now. Even with E-logs and multi stops I am still makig money. Im working my tail off but Im making money. I have turned right at 2900 miles 2 of the last 3 weeks and been well over 2000 the others. 2012 is off to a good start for me financially. Not the perfect company by any means but you can make some money there if you arent afraid of work.

You mentioned they gave you a chance to drive with no "recent" driving time- how long was your break before starting up w them? I'm also returning from time off and am trying to avoid going back to school for something I already know how to do :) I'll be out of the Lacey WA terminal and am in good shape so don't mind throwing a few mattresses around :)

So how are things over at Corsicana? Thinking about heading that way myself. I like the whole concept of starting the week with a task, doing the job, then going home at the end of the week. Thanks for all your previous input about the company.

They are actually pretty hard up for drivers right now it seems. No one seems to stay for very long. Various reasons for all but most just dont seem to like moving the mattresses. Im still hanging in there and making ok money. I could do better and i could do way worse, Right now Im in a pretty decent truck and making enough to satisfy my needs more than enough. It can be tough work and a lot of their equipment isnt great at all but you can make money there once you learn how to work the system. Ive been there for over a year now and dont plan on leaving for a while yet. I figured the place out pretty well. Its not without daily frustrations and lack of accessorial pay but Im doing alright.

Hey jagerbomber. I have been reading your info about corsicana bedding and I am thinking of applying. I have been off the road for over 2 years and you say they will hire without really recent experience. Do they allow you to idle your truck during your 10 hr break for a/c, heat etc? Also, how hard is it to unload those mattresses? Can you use a dolly of some kind to roll them to the back of the truck? Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

Yea there advertising pretty hard for drivers. Sounds like the pay is real good and quite frankly a Monday through Friday job (for the most part) sounds appealing. My take on the turnover is just a hunch but I'd be willing to bet some of the deliveries are very difficult and stressful. Not the tailgating the product, this is no surprise to someone before starting. The deliveries, I've seen mattress stores in tiny little strip shopping centers that honestly don't look like fun to get into.

You are allowed up to 30% long idle. The first week or 2 unloading yopu will feel like you got hit by a truck but after that it becomes a good source of exercise and you will feel yourself getting physically stronger. Some of the drivers do build themselves rolling carts to help cut out some of the work. Some of the locations we go to are shockingly difficult to navigate and get a truck into. Im a better driver now than i ever was before I started there. Ive put my big 9400 International with a 53footer into places I would avoid like the plague on anyother job. Ive become way more confident in my abilities in my time with corsicana to the point of being pretty proud of what I can do now. Im cautious and careful but proud of what I can do now. Its not a job for everyone by any means but it is a place where a good work ethic and the ability to put up with crap can result in some pretty reasonable money. Im not on here everyday but feel free to toss anymore questions you may have at me. They are in a need for drivers right now. We are short and still turning over. I can show you a few pretty stellar paystubs to prove that money is possible there.
