Backing up

Have someone help guide you or get out and look a lot.

The only time I see guys blindside without getting out or without help is if they're in a daycab.

 

Or a window on the passenger side of the sleeper.

 

When you lose your tail, get out and look, pull forward, straighten your truck, and repeat.
Getting out gives you a big picture, of where your at.
I dont care how many times, I get out, even with a spotter, get out and see what obstacles, are in your way.
Main rule of trucking..dont hit stuff.

 

Steer the trailers tandems, not the tail. Shorten the tail end if that don't work out.

 

Carry a traffic cone with you and put it at the point you want your tandems to be to start turning.
Never trust a spotter. I don't care who it is.
If you hit something, it is on you...not the spotter.
If you have to GOAL 100 times, so be it.
You will look dumber hitting something than you will getting out to look.
Take your time.

I find it funny...they put cameras everywhere except the license plate...great job safety!
Back up camera would be awesome.
