Find a technician capable of replacing the mosfet finals with an MRF477 and drop the noise floor of the receive below -125db.
    good luck in your quest.

Put in some good quality coax, a good quality noise cancelling mic and a Sirio 5000 antenna as a start.

Alright the current truck i have is a 2013 freightliner cascadia and i have to havr the aftermarket wilson bolt on mirror mounts for this. But what antenna will be the best i am still wanting to runn a Dual antennea but i will start with a sigle and work up as i get money but how is the wilson 3500. Or the K40 antennas. Currently i have an astatic mic but i am not as happy with it too much trebble as i have a high voice comes in a bit squeeky. All my family and friends ran Galaxys and the GNF so it was never an issue but in a radio with no bass tone my voice is a bit much so ill need a bassier mic and a few said to try a distortion mod turned down to take a bit of edge off.

Just get the 959 from amazon for $155 and Rm203p Amp 100-200 watts for $75 from Amazon or newegg.com and lastly duall firestick 2, or ,wilson 5000, or center load coil monkey made? Also please use the better rg8x cable .. Hook up everything to your battery & good gounding always
Using 4 gauge wire and you will love the results.. Add the echo power mic for am use.. MUST Use the rf power dial to turn output watts down to 1.5 watts when using the rm203p amp. I believe this is the smartest way to have a lot of fun without spending $1,000 bucks.

Just curious as to how you came up with this?

What you're actually explaining is someone claiming their 959 is a Flamethrower but isn't but let's say Hypothetically you're correct then this means every single poorly tuned to the max radio would be a Flamethrower. However, it isn't for the beginner because one who doesn't know how to properly adjust RF Gain and Power while using it going down the road talking on it then it will seem to the beginner that it's crap.

Must keep in mind that all DX radios are built based on use for Base Stations (but also keep in mind I'm not saying they are intended just for Base Station Applications) yet with the Mobile Operators in mind. This means that unlike your Standard CB Radios, like nearly all Cobras for example, which are designed strictly for 11-meter (Short Distance) the 10-Meter DXs are on Bands for long distance which in a case of talking to visible truckers you'll want to keep the wattage down to minimum of 2-4 watts and raise it as needed the farther away you become from the person you're speaking to (this being of course using AM 27.185MHz).

Now granted I agree with you when saying the real Flamethrower is a waste of money and too overrated. I've got almost every single model that Galaxy ever came out with including several of each one the FCC outlawed calling them Exports and each one I've internally adjusted for that specific radio. The Galaxy DX 88HL being my favorite of all this one I use daily in my truck and it's only got a bad rap sheet because of people not knowing what they're doing with that particular radio as mine will out perform most all radios on the road with crystal clear RX/TX, no interference at all even if I turn on one of the amps, and until another Trucker or DXer speaks you'd think the radio was turned off even with the Squelch turned all the way which is where it should be anyways on any radio, and it's about 93% stock internally without all the Truck Stop CB Flop Shop kits that kill radios.

Also, NEVER allow anyone to touch your radio or antenna without first seeing their FCC Certificates and ONLY allow the person who's name is on the Certificates touch it. Otherwise you're getting screwed by a Rusted Golden Screwdriver (yeah I said rusted).

    Anywho, be safe out there!

    In his own words.
    16 miles for $300.00

In my world. Twice the distance for half the price. To each his own.

Think you missed interpreted what I was talking about..."Assuming" the original poster was talking about this radio being offered on eBay, which is also the radio I was referring to...
FLAME THROWER CB RADIO Galaxy DX959B 656955109598 | eBay

$300+ for a radio you can get for half that price...Now If you can show me where this guy has added another $150 worth of parts to this rig, then I might agree it's worth the $350 asking price.

Now if the guy was just saying his friend had a 959 "that was a real flamethrower" then that would be a different story...but that's not the way it was worded...He said the radio was "called" a "Galaxy 959 Flamethrower"...which is this one listed on eBay...and, the guy on eBay (bri2294 ) out of California has been selling these "Flame'rs" on eBay for years...
