I have heard we get less mpg out of it. I see the sticker where it says 5 to 20% bio die. Are there truck stop chains where you can avoid it?

It does contain slightly less btu per gallon but hardly noticeable. I run it in summer sometimes. Figure that's my contribution to saving the environment. It has better lubricity than straight ulsd so that helps I guess. Never run it in winter it gels at a significantly higher temp than ulsd.

Not sure if specific chains vow to not sell it. There are state laws also. Minnesota has a law they must sell bio diesel all year and the % has been going up with no provision for cold weather. I bet they see decreased sales in winter. I have found loves is usually bio diesel everywhere. Pfj and ta/p is a crap shoot. Watch for sticker. Remember who sells what for future travels.

MN apparently requires all diesel fuel sold there to contain 20% biodiesel, with WA only requiring 2%.

There are claims going around that this stuff will clean anything, such as engine internals. Anyone know if there is any truth to that?

20% year round now? I thought the original plan was to slowly ratchet up the %. Bio fuel doesn't work well when the temperature drops. Gel temp is higher. I don't believe it cleans or does anything regular diesel does. Just another way to try to sell it.

5 to 10 bio has been shown to be best for fuel economy. And bio will keep your injector clean. Or anything it touches. Yet it does break down faster than old diesel. Causing wax and asphalt issues.

Does it hold on to water like ethanol does?

It's 5% in the winter now but the state is going to make it 20% by summer and they want to keep it that way year round. Will have to start to use anti gel with every tank next winter.

Its good ideal to use bottle of anti gel every time you fill up, especially when you're filling up in southern states and going northbound.
