$28000 for a rebuild on a Detroit. What did they do, put a new engine in? Gotta love these truck dealers. Happy for you that you had a warranty.

 

Sorry I wasnt home lol . I walked around the yard this morning after I pretripped and stretched.

 

They quoted me a WW WILLIAMS about $30,000 for a inframe rebuild. I was just curious because I did one on my C-15 Acert Cat and it was around $20,000 with a 3yr unlimited mile warranty.

 

Yea that warranty paid for itself in less than two months.

 

How's the engine running now? Much better I hope.

 

100% better first thing I noticed was mpg haven't calculated exact numbers but I'm getting over 200 miles more to the fill up and my truck is not drinking a gallon of coolant every day anymore. I had a cracked liner and that's what led us to find everything else. And man was the list long. It's not a CAT or anything but the pulling power increase is noticeable.

 

WoW. How many miles were on your engine?

I put a bullydog in my truck and it helped with horsepower tremendously.

Wow....did not realize it cost that much to overhaul the newer Detroits...almost makes these old cat overhauls look cheap...did my 3406e about 4 months ago for about $10,000 in parts plus labor...good luck with the new engine...how much warranty do you have on your overhaul?
