Bud Light semi truck driver apparently unfamiliar with city's steep hills gets stuck
Thousands of Super Bowl revelers will be without their Bud Light this evening, due to what we can only imagine was a dire slope miscalculation on the part of a delivery driver in San Francisco today.
A semi-truck operator, either unfamiliar with or in disbelief of stories about the city's numerous steeply inclined hills, unsuccessfully attempted to turn onto Jones Street from California Street.
Unfortunately, the driver did not not realize that the 24.8 percent grade on Jones between California and Pine would force the truck to bottom out, and render it completely useless.
Kurt Varner, a Director of Design at Shyp, caught the moment and tweeted out a few photos of the mishap.
San Francisco does not care about Bud Light. Not even during the Super Bowl. pic.twitter.com/PYpDv5OE6t

Perhaps this driver thought our hills were just a myth, exaggerated by tales defining the city's picturesque landscape. Sadly, the driver found out the hard way that the slopes here are not just for show.

24.8 grade....? That's a San Francisco treat. Probably a good thing he DID get caught on that ridge.
Those little single axle day cabs don't have engine brakes and the driver more than likely was on loan from a neighboring distributor to help for the SB and not used to the streets , or controlling a heavy load on a steep grade (and boy is 25 steep!).
That may have averted disaster.roshea, rachi and scottlav46 Thank this.
