Hey guys I have a company issued 2015 cascadia and sometimes right before the truck does a parked regeneration the smell of burnt rubber comes out the tail pipe and the cab smells of burnt rubber/plastic.

I happens if the truck has idled over 15 hours or so. I'm guessing maybe the dpf filter gets clogged? I've found if I keep the def tank full it doesn't do it as much

Not a huge issue and it doesn't happen often but sometimes I wake up with a headache and the cab smelling of burnt plastic. Anything I can do to prevent it? Maybe up the idle rpms with a broom stick lol

Regens do have a weird smell. Excessive idling will cause increased fuel slobber into the after treatment. I would blame the idling at this point. Do you idle at higher rpms?

Shouldnt smell like burnt rubber. It should smell exactly like DEF when youre fueling. And the only times I have my rpms at 900 is when I am doing a parked regen, which is like 30-40 min if it gets hot enough.

They thing is after it does a parked regen the smell goes away, but I it won't let me initiate a parked regen with the in cab button unless the dash light it on. So if I start to smell the burnt rubber smell I can't just regen it and be done, no I have to wait for the truck to decide it's time

Let's see, ambient air temperature 100 degrees, regen temp 1000 degrees, total heat under your truck 1100 degrees. Yup, something is going to get hot. You can't idle these new trucks without consequences.
