If I could get 5.7 I would be doing back flips:biggrin_25514: Pulling a sidekit I am getting around 5 to 5.3. Empty with the front axle up I can get 6 but empty dont pay.

I would go back to the KW shop and kick Mr. Foreman's ### up around the moon for telling you 235 degrees is a factory setting, its not. Mr. Haney told you the truth in his last post. I have a Pete and if I have a Cat problem the last place I would go to is a Pete shop if possible. Take your Cat to a Cat shop for engine work.
Get your radiator and temp sensors checked, get 4 new air boots and 8 new clamps if yours are old. Trash the mufflers. After you get your overheating problem fix than think about doing a upgrade tune up to the ECM.

Prices, mostly. Also, how long can I expect a set of injectors to last? I just bought an 05 with about 500k. Its supposed to be set at 550, but feels like a dog compared to our old 550hp 3406E.

Good call! Yes you can "lug" a cat. Heck, its designed to pull. I would add that when using a c15 you should try "prgressive shifting". It will increase your MPG's.

Pricing for a overhaul all depends on what you want to put in it and what is found when it gets taken apart. I just did one and got the gold overhaul kit from cat was around 4500 and a head for 3000 add turbos, oil pump, waterpump, and injectors and thats probly around another 10 grand. There are many theads on this forum on how to make acerts run better and get better fuel miliage i would look them up there is many good mods listed in them that will help you out

Think I have read most of them. Lots of stuff I would like to do, but not enough cash to accomplish all of it right now. It just really seems weak compared to our 3406E.

they are weak in stock form with their restrictive catalitic mufflers and are sensitive to boost leaks and low fuel pressure. It wont run with your old E with out modifying it. They killed these engines with all the emissons junk.
