I would like to find someone that would retro fit a DD13 into an Argosy for me, I need a cabover for a specific app. that includes runs to and from cali.

    So far, no luck.

Call Pittsburgh Power too... they do a lot of that sort of thing, but not so far with the newer engines. They might be able to talk to you about the problems involved if they aren't interested in doing the work.

You have the short nose Cascadias right? When I see those with the small bunk they remind me a lot of a cabover wheel base. Still too long I guess?

its much simpler than that, just add a dpf muffler system to the older truck to make it compliant, donalson makes them. much smpler than the rigamarole of building a old truck with a new motor for petes sake.

We are short nose 113" but we run the medium sleeper, 60" Prime runs some short nose 48" sleepers in their ECO fleet, but they are still about 13' total BBC, the Argosy is 90" BBC, that 4 1/2' is a BIG deal in what I am trying to do.

If I can't get the Argosy done, then yes, the 113"/48" would be my next step.

I had looked into this as a solution, but a couple of issues came up. First, it WILL affect the performance of that non-emission motor, second, it is, IMO unreasonably expensive, I was quoted 18,000 dollars, (they HAVE to do a study on your truck and miles to be complaint in cali. you just don't throw a DPF on it.

Lastly was the maintenance issue, since the motor was not designed for a DPF, it must be serviced more often. For instance, my DD13's DPF's will go to 300,000 or more before service (1600.00 dollars) so about once every two years.

The combo I was looking at would require a service every 50,000, that would be every FOUR months for us. The cost and downtime, plus loss of fuel mileage and performance just simply makes this avenue unacceptable, at least in my eyes.

This is what I have heard too. That is why I asked about just putting in a whole new modern power plant that is actually designed for the emissions controls and will be legal in Cali for years to come.
