Because they suck. Check out bad companies on this forum. They are there. Some make it at Prime . Most don't . Just another company who convince suckers to buy and finance their equipment for them so they can make much more for themselves. They have a slick sales pitch . Go buy some siding.

I did not use a school. I studied the book and rented a truck and walked away with my CDL. However, I already had my job lined up, company knew they were getting me green as can be. This was local, most OTR jobs require school or recent & verifiable experience.

Personally I love my Ford Crown Victoria Police Intercepter! -
Look it over. And others like Millis, WS, Roehl. Go where you think you will fit best. Or go get it on your own. There will always be someone to drive for if you can sell yourself. -
If you do decide to go with one of the carriers who do fleece deals, you need to stay away from their lease. You will make more money as a company driver than you will when you lease a truck from one of these carriers under their lease. Many people want to be an owner operator. To me, when you lease a truck from a carrier you are pretending to be an owner operator. If you want to be an owner operator, save your money for a good down payment or pay cash. You will make much more money when you own the truck than if you rent one from one of the carriers who lease them to unsuspecting drivers. I have looked at the numbers from most of those who offer them. Some of them will take $800/week or more from you to pay for the truck rental and other charges. You can buy a truck with a monthly payment of $800/month or less. That in itself will put an additional $2,400/month in your pocket. A lease operator is not an owner operator. When you own the truck you can take it anywhere you want. If you lease a truck from a carrier, you must leave the truck if you decide to change carriers. You will also pay considerably more for a lease truck than you would pay when you own.
