Don't think it is immediate-mis-spoke there. Sister-in-law's hubby is a lawyer and he says that since a company cannot run without its NSC, it has value, and a lien can be registered against it. I guess as soon as the lien is registered, gov't would be notified about the lien, and lawyer could insist co. not run any trucks until lien is satisfied. I assume that a lawyer could also notify the various provincial transport dept's across Canada, if a company hauls to several provinces, that a lien has been registered.

I doudt that you can file a LIEN against a carriers NSC rating , liens are filed against tangable assets not an issued certificate.
-
I'm pretty sure FLATBED has it right. Liens are issued on tangible assets that can be sold to settle the lien. They can't sell a NSC.
-
Hmm, could be right there. Could one put a lien on a home owned by the company owner and force the sale of the home to settle the lien?
-
Placing a lien on an article does no force the person to sell it. It only prevents them from selling it when they want to without the lien being removed if the purchaser has does a title search. If the ownership changes the new owner is responsable for the lien.
If they don't sell the house for 20 years then what? -
Celadon is supposed to be pretty good as well....
The Canadian office is great. The people there are easy to deal with. Dealing with the planner's out of Indianapolis, however, tries my patience somedays!!
I've worked for a few of the big ones; SNI, Challenger, Laidlaw. By far, Celadon is the the one that treats me best.truckerswife1973 and AJTrucker Thank this. -

The Canadian office is in Kitchener I think. I have been thinking of maybe going to Celadon out of Kitchener. Not sure though. We'll see what happens with the docs first.
