Due to the new length laws the scale master in Ohio on 71 north between Cincy and Columbus is targeting carhaulers more than usual. He is taking his frustrations out on carhaulers at $140.00 a pop. He is enforcing the law with zero tolerance. If your load sticks one inch past your trailer lights, it must be flagged at the furthest point. A flag mounted to the furthest point on the trailer, will not work if the load passes the flag. This law may have been around for years, but nearly every state lets you mount the flag on the rear top deck of the trailer which usually is very near the rear of the load. The only exception I have ever heard was if you had a pickup on the back top, then hang the flag on it. Do yourself a favor and don't cross this scale, go thru Dayton, but if you must cross it you better be 100% legal. On a side note he tried to tell me I needed a flag on both sides of the top rear unit. He did research the law and changed his mind.

When they get goofy like that I use my saftey vest and slam it in the trunk or tailgate. Law says I has to be reflective but doesn't say it can't smell like sweat.

Didn't have a problem before. Scale houses are being a pain since law changed.

That is the ONLY scale in Ohio I have ever had an issue with, dropped two trucks off in Cincy and was heading to Columbus, front truck was 2' off the front of the trailer, NOTHING else on the trailer, made us stop and unstrap, back that unit up 2' and restrap, lol

I guess as long as I can laugh and learn something, not cross that scale again, it's money well spent!
