I'm a ham myself, but stick pretty much to 2 meter and 470 mhz bands. I just don't like the noise of the hf bands.

Ask rabbitporkchop all about noise. His tech can tune a receiver to the point it can pick up a -125db signal. In order to do that, all the noise has to be *gone*. It can be done.
Blaskowitz and Ougigoug Thank this. -

Just last week I got a heads up from another driver a headlamp had went out and this was a hazmat load at night really close to a weight station. Instead of getting raked over the coals I hit a exit and replaced the bulb while doing my tire check and off I went. Then the next night a O/O had to back in a T/S and could not see oncoming trucks. When he advised me where he wanted to park I held off trucks coming by for him.
Blaskowitz and RStewart Thank this. -
I will never get rid of my cb. It's always on even if I turn the volume down. If I find someone to chat with we go to another channel & have a conversation.
Blaskowitz and volvo244t Thank this. -
I still use one.....and I'm not a "dying truck driver" as far as I know!
Blaskowitz and Ougigoug Thank this. -
I drive in farnorcal, we all use them about every 15 min
Blaskowitz Thanks this. -
Mine's on 99.8% of the time. Unless someone starts a race, religion, or political argument... then it gets squelched out.
