ok I've been fighting this thing for awhile. It won't go over like 200-300 yards. Boss had duel antennas and I have my digital cobra 29. I put single 9' coax on last night and when I calibrate it's at 1.5 or tidbit below on 1, 19 & 40. However when turn back to normal 19 will goto 4-4.5 and CB radio antennae warning flashes. I'm not very CB smart on setting up. Thank you in advance.

There is no adjustment on your radio To adjust your antennas. The calibrate knob on your radio is to calibrate the SWR meter to try to give you a rough estimate of your SWR reading. Find someone with an antenna analyzer

    Junkyarddog5958 Thanks this.

I'm wondering if it's not grounding well. The antenna bracket is mounted on steel mirror brackets and it's attached with plate to door. However there's rubber gasket between plate and door. This is on '00 Peterbilt 379

If it's that old I guarantee that's your problem. You need an ohm meter to check your grounds

    Blaskowitz and Junkyarddog5958 Thank this.

I have ohm meter at home. Could a person run ground from bracket to CB ground terminal and work fine? That's easiest route for me.

You need to use the shortest Length braided ground strap possible. Maybe a six inch length to connect the door to the body to bypass the hinge. You might need to do that in multiple locations

    Blaskowitz and Junkyarddog5958 Thank this.
