I was recently accused of a hit-n-run. When it went to pre-trial, I was offered a plea agreement "no loss of license, fine only, no restitution". The fine was $100, and was a lot cheaper than what it cost for that 2 minutes in the courtroom. Lawyer charges $200 hr/ and makes that alone with the trip to the court... So I took it. Wish I would have faught it farther. Few days later I got a letter from the DMV saying my CDL was revoked for 1 year. I did some research, and there are major and minor disquilifing offences. This is one. I was not aware of that. I know ignorance of the law is not an excuse... But has anyone gone through this (or something similar). I pled no contest, which is what my lawyer said would help a lot. He said he had had several cases where someone got a DUI and they got their CDL back. I have until the 28th to appeal. I am having a hard time getting ahold of him. He is either in court, or with a client. Time is running out, and if I can't get ahold of him how do I appeal myself? I did get two emails from my lawyer, and one call. What he said is that the criminal case is different than with the DMV. That's civil. Any input is more than welcome.

Question is, did you actually commit the offense you was accused of?
-
No. But they said that the trailer hitch was at a different angel (according to the report), but that was due to the way it was parked. And there was only one witness that said they saw me. And that guy is a liar, felon, cheat, and fraud! He magically moved to Iowa a few days after this had happened. He owes a lot of people a lot of money. Not heresay, but people that I actually know told me.

Depends on the county in Nebraska, I had my problem in Washington co. Years ago and they were very unforgiving.
Nebraska DMV is a cluster so ya better get with your lawyer . -
Get another job until you can get it back. That is about your only option. Also when you do go to get it back you will have to retake every test over again like you are getting it for the first time. Also most companies are not going to want to hire you. So you need to consider that before you go through all of the time and expence.
