Do you mean a private or community college CDL school, then after graduation find a company to team with?
Are you meaning a trucking company CDL school that also teams?TruckDuo Thanks this. -
I won't be able to answer your questions but I went to a school that was tied to a local community college. If you go that route, you can actually get a school loan for the course. No need to be tied to a company school after school either.
There was a husband and wife team that was in my class and my wife is seriously considering coming OTR with me next year. Seems like an interesting adventure to take together. If you can live in a very confined space 24/7 without damaging the relationship that is... lol
And for what it's worth, I took advice from @Chinatown and he pointed me towards a few good non-mega training company carriers... It was valuable input to me as I began my first few steps in my new career. He is very knowledgable about a number of options that might be viable for you. (Just my two cents worth)

I am looking for trucking company cdl school but I have heard that some won't let husband and wives otr train together. Right now we are just gathering as much facts and info before starting anything don't want us to go into this with blinders on. I am also looking at local community college too.

If you can manage, go the community college route. This way it's easier to team together faster, maybe after making a run or two with a trainer. You can have a female trainer and husband a male trainer.
Community college CDL schools in NC are cheap.
Goodwill Industries pays 100% of CDL school in NC if they have funding available. This information is on one of their websites.
Many good team companies hire drivers out of NC, so finding a good job will be easy. You can submit job applications the first week of CDL school. -
If you decide on a trucking company school, the same applies, wife can have a female trainer and husband a male trainer.
Here's 3 to look at:
Jim Palmer Trucking
Earl Henderson Trucking
Southern Refrigerated Transport
Again , go with the community college if you can. There's nothing wrong with trucking company schools, but community college schools give you more choices as to companies to work for. With trucking company schools you usually must stay with them 12 months after graduation. Personally, I don't see a problem with that; it's a job for you and a return on an investment for the trucking company.Last edited: Sep 4, 2015

What exactly do you mean by husband and wife train Together? Are you talking CR England style with both of you And a trainer in 1 truck? Or just both attending the CDL portion together and then going out simultaneously with different trainers? A lot of couples let one start at least a few months ahead of the other. So both are not completely green at the same time.

You don't want 3 folks in a truck.

Training a husband and wife team isn't that bad. I only did it once as I didn't want 3 in my truck but the were much better then most solos I trained.
To the OP, many companies will let you train together. As for schools it's not a big deal, you will be together. While in school you will have recruiters visit at some point. You can ask them or search the web for company numbers that you would consider and just call and ask. But I don't see training together as the biggest problem.
Good luck to the both of you. It can be rough out here so I wish you the best.
