Thinking of buying my own test kit, any recommendations out there. I'm looking at the OTC, it runs about 300-350 depending on where you buy it and a couple others in that price range, just never used one myself always had the shop do it. I figure it would be a good investment and I can check it any time I think there's a problem.

It'd be pretty easy to make one if you've got a welder, torch and a drill and some pipe. Heck you could probably stop at a big home improvement store pick up some pvc pipe, a cab, pressure guage and a couple air fittings for under 87.56$

This I did this with p.v.c. drain pipe, got everything from lowes. this works perfect on a detroit ser 60 not sure of the piping size of other engines.

You cap off the inlet and outlet then pressurize the cac and see if it leaks.
Tomorrow I give an explanation on how a pencil works. -

Thanks Heavyhaulerss, I assume you leave the boot on the openings of the CAC and use those to clamp on the fittings. Thanks for the Idea.
