I have a Cobra 19 in my 1991 Dodge Ram D250. I used a magnetic mount antenna. Works good for me. Nice compact, budget set-up.

I would go with Uniden over Cobra. The Uniden stock mic sounds much better, a cobra stock mic sounds like your talking into a can or quacking like a duck if you get too close to it. I picked up a 980 to replace a 29lx. The Uniden will remember my settings after being disconnected from power were the Cobra won't. Not a big thing, but it is nice.

I would get it tuned and aligned by someone who knows what they're doing. From the factory they only get them working, they often come out of the box off frequency, with the modulation set way too low, and the receive way detuned.

In my experience, stock radios outperform tuned radios by even the best technicians in the business.
Running up and down the interstate I could hear a stock Cobra 29 further than a 10-meter radio tuned by anybody on the white list except for one person.
In my experience, stock is the next best thing to perfect.

    Ougigoug and darthanubis Thank this.

I got a video someplace of me talking to a dump truck driver with a stock Cobra 29 45 miles away and the guy couldn't believe that I got was able to hear him from so far away. I told him just cuz I hear you doesn't mean any of the other guys in the truck stop here you and I was right none of the other people in the truck stop were able to hear the guy because their receivers were not tuned properly by the proper technician. As soon as I find the video I'll post it on YouTube and share it here I might need to dig through a couple computers before I can find it

Some TA/Petro truck stops have these. It's a basic CB but comes with an external speaker and the Bluetooth wireless mic. Almost bought one just for the mic. Most everything at a truck stop is marked up really high, maybe the combo is sole elsewhere.
