I saw the coverage of that this morning. It will be interesting to find out what happened, and as tragic as it is about the person that died, it could easily have been much worse.

What are the odds that a crane would kill This man?

I'm not a crane expert but the video shows it was moving. Did it over extend causing it to break some lines and ultimately fall? The base is upside down?

    that's crazy!
watching the end of the video, I know the guy that jumps on the car is trying to help but did he really think he could move that?

He isn't trying to move the crane haha.. If you watch the video he is using the crane boom as leverage to pry open the passenger door with his feet ;)

I believe that it was very windy, and they were trying to lower the luffing boom (kinda like a jib), to create less wind resistance. Either they had the main boom too far down when doing this, or the wind was just too strong anyway. It is amazing the leverage that wind can cause when you have so much stick in the air, and I suppose that the tall buildings might act like a funnel too.

Yeah who knows how much of a wind tunnel those street can be with the high buildings... I know any time I am downtown Toronto you can feel the wind on some streets is strong cause of the window tunnel the buildings create...
