    We have all seen it. I worked in safety when my wife was ill. This experience opened my eyes to what goes on in some drivers minds. Here is a good one.
    One morning I recived a call from the shop to check out a coil on a trailer that had came in for a PM. Looked good as I walked up tarp good and tight loaded shotgun three straps over the top. That's all that was on the coil no chains on a 44,000 coil. Driver stated " I haul them like that all the time" ?

    This was a sanitation company in Jax hauling beat to heck steel with all kinds of sharp edges and one strap each with no protection. Pics suck because he was hauling ##* in the rain.

    He got a bus ticket home.
    I wish I had keep some of the pictures I had from the crap I have seen.
    When I see things on the road now I often find my self in shock by the time I recover its too late.

    Must be a really good (or lucky) driver to not have the securement break and that coil roll off.

    I try to educate my family about keeping your distance from these trucks.....but being tarped and then just straps over a coil Holy Hell!

    We have a yard in Gary, IN off i80 exit 5. I was in the office talking to Safety. A guy rolled in from Burns Harbor with a suicide coil, no securement. The safety man, ex driver, great man btw, went sprinting after him. That's 10 miles though crazy traffic suicide coil, ZERO SECUREMENT.

    "What if?"

    No. How in the heck did he do it????????????? That's like taking a leisurely walk on Normandy Beach on D Day, swim wear and even an umbrella, and not getting hit.

    I routinely see landscape companies with decent size skid loaders on with just a 2" ratchet strap through the grab handles.
