hello guys. I need your help. I have a 2006 kenworth W900 with a rebuilt cummins N-14 plus that originally came out of a international. With the truck idling and the oil temp about 200, the oil psi goes up to about 38 psi at 1500rpm. When the truck is in a hard pull grossing 78-79 thousand pounds, the oil temp jumps up to about 250-254. No alarm. Oil pressure goes down to 25psi at about 1500-1600 rpm. Any advice on where to start? Could it be the oil pump? What about the oil cooler? Do I have other major issues?? No loss of power.
Cummins n-14 high oil temp and low oil pressure

First need to make sure the temp reading your getting is right. Do you have a laser temp gun? If so take the temp at the oil cooler and compare with the gauge. But you should have 30-34lbs at 15-1600 rpm.

No I don't have one. I was going to have a shop close by to put a gauge on and see if the gauge in the cab is reading correctly

Those temp guns are handy. You can check hubs, diffs, trans. Did you have a custom harness made for that swap? Is the oil pressure gauge mechanical or read of sensor?

Your first step should be to ask Cummins about those numbers. I've never had an N-14, but I have two friends that swear by theirs and as I recall they are a low oil pressure engine & 25 PSI may well be normal.

Sounds like mine - 2001 N14 in A KW T2000.
Runs about 225-235 degrees, 255 on a pull or heavy. (OIl temp)
15 PSI at idle when hot, 35 -38 when running. I idle it up a little if sitting for a few minutes to raise the PSI.
I find if I back out of it when hot or heavy, it settles back down again. Normally run 62 - 67, about 1450-1500 rpm.
It alarmed me a little at first, but seems to be fine. I plugged a scan guage in to double check the guages, and they are a little off.Fast04gt Thanks this. -
Sensor. The harness was all spliced.

Normal on a N14

I have 98 Pete with an N14 celect+. I'm not sure if I'm having a wiring problem or not. My oil temp gauge reads 245 and higher when in a hard pull and 220 when cruising. I've replaced sensors, guage, wire pig tails, and the oil thermostat. This is the only cummins I have delt with.
