Truck is a 2006 VNL with d12 engine. Which of the three oil filters is the bypass filter? Also will the bypass filter screw on in eithe of the other two positions? If it can be put in one of the othe positions, what problems will it cause? Please help fast. I'm having oil pan seal replaced and mechanic drain pan and removed filters. He just call to ask what position is the bypass. Thanks.

The bypass filter is the one at the rear of the engine, and you can't mix them up it has a different thread than the full flow filters

You might need a new mechanic if he can't figure out where the filters go

Haha you maybe right. This is his first Volvo. He had figured it out by the time I called him back. He really is a good wrencher, just his specialty is yellow iron. He's helping me out by doing the job were I park. Closest Volvo shop has 7 day wait. He's done and no leaks so far 2hours.
