Are there any reputable recruiting agencies out there?
What about PDA?
What are the pros and cons of going this route?
Thanks in advance
Did anyone here use an agent to get their first job?

A recruiter is going to put you with a company that pays them. They may act like they care what your needs are. But it all boils down to them making bucks off you. You are way better off doing your homework and selecting 4 or 5 companies that meet your needs (or claim to) and applying to them yourself. Just my opinion.

Got CDL in late March. Live an hour and a half from the interstate way out in the rockies. Been self employed most of my adult life and took the last few years off entirely so no work history to speak of.
Not worried about getting home time and dont expect a carrier to get any closer than 3 hours away and even then I dont expect to get back much. Just makes the whole thing pretty complicated.
My ideal gig would be dry van or flatbed western 11. -
Hi Crossword. Kind of funny, my 1st trucking job, (late '70's) I went to a trucking co. that I had seen their trucks around, went in, filled out a 3x5 index card, went for a 5 minute ride with the boss, and I was trucking that very afternoon. Things obviously have changed dramatically. Recruiters are kind of the "last resort" and there are so many drivers jobs, I'd never pay someone to find me a trucking job. 6 months experience kind of limits you to the mega companies, but you might find a smaller one that will give you a shot.( which are usually better than megas) If you're serious, Chinatown has a wealth of knowledge on companies in your area ( which I imagine is Colorado). Lots of freight goes thru there, and go on a recommendation from someone and not necessarily CL. CL is also kind of the bottom of the barrel, although, it wouldn't hurt to check. I do. ( never know, that dream job may pop up,,,yeah right) Anyway, good luck.

But athletes have agents don't they?
This is killing me. There are companies out there claiming to be agents to get drivers the top pay they deserve. Nope, they just want to hold stupid people's hand through a Mega's door so they can collect $5000 from the carrier for the lead. -
Drivers have gotten so lazy now they actually need people to apply to jobs for them. Holy #### what has this industry developed into ?
Do your research, find a company that fits what your looking for and apply. I honestly cant believe people get paid to do this crap. -
A few companies will hire you with that long gap.
Submit lots of applications.
