Well folks - just ended my lease with a carrier (Swift) and overall it was a pretty good experience. Before we begin with the "anti-Swift" stuff I want you to realize that I am no longer there. I will say they did treat me well and I was mostly happy, but I wanted to experience more.
Since departing them 3 weeks ago - I have been approved as a BCO with Landstar and have purchased a "new to me" truck.
Not looking for negative about Landstar ---- every company has negative issues. What I am looking for is how to succeed within the structure of Landstar and learn the easier way to make things happen.
4 years "this time" behind the wheel / total of 12 added all together so please don't treat me as if I am a brand new baby in trucking. Just want to know how to make friends and be financially successful within Landstar. Hell if I could make good money at Swift doing the L/O thing, I can only imagine it being better as an O/O and Landstar.

What's the pay per mile with fuel surcharge at Swift when you left?
Good luck at Landstar, you made a smart move to go to % and picking your own freight.OONewbie Thanks this. -

Don't go to Laredo or south Texas in general.....Houston east to Baton Rouge isn't bad for hazmat loads but can be hit or miss.. -
Milkman719 Thanks this.

I appreciate your input -
Just wondering what kind of yearly income you will make with Landstar can you bring home 75k and does that require you being on the road most of the year
QUOTE=Trucking Popeye;4455023]I was averaging $1.35 (including FSC) at Swift when I left.[/QUOTE] -
I'll be following this as I'm kind of looking at Landstar, as well.
Wickedfire77, Trucking Popeye and flood Thank this. -
I make over 100k in 2014 and my longest tour was 3 weeks. I was home almost every week unless the freight paid well enough for me to stay out.
Wickedfire77 and Milkman719 Thank this. -
percentage is the only way to go.....
