Had a Swift O/O (Or lease Op if you want) pass me with this trailer.

A few days later not far from there the same trailer was nosed in a couple spots over from me.

So just wondering if it's required equipment.

    Yes it's required and mandatory.

Unfortunately there's alot of Drivers that are too stupid, lazy or uninformed to do a proper Pre and Post Trip Inspection.

I'm surprised the trailer hasn't been stopped and put oos.

I think it's a fed requirement for any vehicle to have a bumper of some sort.

I already notified their Safety Dept. with the appropriate information so they can rectify the problem.

I can't imagine the 2 drivers didn't already know about it.
    That's too hard to miss.

    Nothing surprises me these days.

It was probably the Dumb and Dumber Driving Team in that truck.

Could've also been they were ordered by the office idiot to take it because it's the only one available.

One could chalk that up to "uninformed".

Even if a Driver was ordered to take it, the Driver is ultimately responsible for the equipment he/she is operating, so by Federal Law they can refuse to operate it.

It's also why a Driver is mandated to fill out a Driver's Vehicle Inspection Report at the end of the day.

Considering how dumb the american people are. Maybe they have no clue what a bumper is and that it's missing.
