The U.S. Department of Transportation Aug. 26 released a proposed rule that would require trucks weighing more than 26,000 pounds to be equipped with speed limiting devices (also known as speed governors or speed limiters), but the regulatory body did not propose a speed to which trucks would be limited.

The DOT appears to be leaning toward 60 mph, 65 mph and 68 mph as the potential limited speed, given the analysis on those speeds released within the rule.

God I hope it gets shot down. What is happening to this country? Can't do anything anymore. Just want to earn an honest living unmolested. Making it harder to do that every day.

Don't worry, I'm sure that see you next Thursday in office in Alberta will figure out a way to screw you somehow. I think yours and mine are in some sort of sadistic competition.

That is one of the things which will destroy yet another industry. I don't mind speed limits, as long it goes with the same that is provided by the state anywhere in the USA. Anything slower than traffic automatically causes choke points, jams and other chaos on the road. If they are so gung ho on the limiting trucks, they should also limit cars too. Heh.

Im glad I got out myself. It was getting to where you needed to Team to bypass and break the increasing losses of time per day due to restrictions.

Drivers are going to have to organize and stand up for more pay.
I can just see a 20 mile long truck train in the right lane .
Its going to be a mess

Article: The DOT says speed limiters would “reduce the severity of crashes…and reduce the resulting fatalities and injuries.”

Ok ... so he was only doing 60 in the 80,000 LB truck instead of 65
when he ran into the other vehicle ... big freakin deal
