    Good day all:

I recently received a speeding ticket in Michigan ( first ticket in ten years of being a truck driver) I reported the ticket to my employer and told them that was going to be fighting it however they still suspended me for a day even though I had not been found guilty yet. I went to court and had the ticket reduced. and reported the outcome to my employer it was at that time that they dismissed for it.Is what the employer did legal can they discipline twice for the same thing?

    thanks

They can wrap up your body in an old carpet and weigh it down with cinder blocks and toss you into the deepest of all lakes if they wanted to.

So yeah, they can do as they please.

No such thing as double jeopardy, you didn't kill someone.

    Move on, SLOW DOWN,,,,!!!!!!!

What company were you driving for when you received the ticket?

So you got the ticket reduced.. what changes in real life what you were doing in their truck? They have every right to suspend you.. next time., slow down or go play race driver in your own truck.

Next time you fight the ticket and if you get it reduced to no points then you don't report it all.

If you were represented by a union, you would not have been fired. Union contracts have progressive discipline, and once you were given the suspension, the employer could not give you a second disciplinary action for the same offense.

Not all discipline is progressive under collective bargaining agreements.
