We have bald eagles in our tallest trees. When they show up, all other birds go silent and fail to fly.

We also have a raptor, a red shouldered hawk that comes around, relatively young in it's first year. It's already made some kills off my bird feeder. I had lost a few favorites this year.

Great catch. Not often it's recorded when they make a kill.

It looked like there were 2 Eagles and the one missed the nest.
    Great video

Cool to know you're ornitho-phile x1. I keep feeders at home, mainly to support the winter birds (chickadees & jays). Living in the city tho, we don't have many raptors.

    Thanks.

I keep a feeder during fall and winter ice. The birds in return keep me free of bugs and pests through my floor heat pump.

I thought that too, but it's a bit blurry. So I'm thinking two things: either the other bird was mom giving chase, or, if it were another Eagle it went after (edit: Was confused by - ) the jumper.

My son, when we lived in Tennessee, had a dog with puppies. He heard a commotion in the fenced back yard. He looked out and saw a large hawk swoop down and take a puppy and flew off with it.
