Thiers a lot more guys on Elogs than you think... and honestly, if you know how to manage your time and are with a decent company (that actually pays you)you have no issues.
And, if the industry loses that many drivers, freight rates will rise and the rest of us make out great!americanmadetrucker, misterG, HillClimber and 9 others Thank this. -
Don't get the big deal here, i was on paper before and now elogs. There's a threshold and you can still edit elogs. Now if you drive 3 hours pass your 14 then yeah you're gna get caught on elogs. But now a days I don't know anyone who cheat that much on paper. 30 minutes to a hour is the most I seen. With dot checking fuel recipt, timing your last location, calling in scale you pass to get the times etc etc how can anyone run 2 logbooks

What I see is a boon to the used truck market. It will not be mandated on trucks built before 2000. I can see the truck parts folks and restorers dancing in the street this morning over this. For those that do not have to deal with Commiefornia emissions stuff, and have an enlarged paranoia gland, I see a big surge in pre-2000 truck buying.
Just renewed my DOT physical this week, so it will come up again when this e-log deadline arrives. Will see how the driver market looks then. The hue and cry that went up in '91 and early '92 over the CDL was the same and folks were swearing to get out of trucking. What happened then will probably happen again.... nothing. -
THESE LAST 2 PARAGRAPHS SUMS UP THAT 60 DAYS TO EFFECT FOR US ALL
Although the Department of Transportation was ordered by Congress to develop regulations requiring electronic recording devices in 1995, the safety administration didn't take action until ordered to do so by a federal appeals court in 2004 in a lawsuit regarding limits on trucker hours. The agency's first attempt at a rule was overturned by another federal appeals court decision in 2011.
Three years ago, Congress again directed the safety administration to issue a rule requiring the devices and set a deadline of Oct. 1, 2013.
In 60 days we will all see and if i were a betting man id bet when we get close to 60 days that word "suspended" will pop up againKB3MMX Thanks this.
