I checked for fault codes last night and found these. Engine ECU = MID 128, Brake ECU = MID 136, Vehicle ECU = MID 144 and PSID 48. Also Light Control Module = MID 126 and PSID 48. Can anyone shine some light on these for me? I appreciate any help and / or advice in advance. Thanks

hi im in uk and all uk volvo trucks run with various controll unit ie engine mid 128 , brake mid 136 , vehicle ecu mid 144 when a fault accurs it will for example put a engine fault code up example "mid 128 psid 201 fmi 9 " the mid 128 represents engine , psid 201 represents a data link fault and the fmi 9 represent a abnormal update from engine too vehicle ecu so flaggs a problem ..the fmi can range from 1 up wards the fmi when im fault finding is very inportant it will tell me if its a machanicall or electrical fault im looking at . if this is not the same on your vehicle in navarda i carnt help .

Vehicle : 2007 Volvo 630, Cummin's engine, Trans: Auto "" Eaton 10 speed.
I stopped on middle of the road.
My truck is shut off, after couple miles when I saw on display message " J1587 Communication Error With Vehicle ECU ".
I Try it to disconnect batteries for 15-30 minuts.Problems not resolved.
1) truck starts oK, but PTO doesn't work , display shows sign CHECK then after couple seconds coming message -->> " J1587 Communication Error With Vehicle ECU "
2) transmission all time -->> "N" and doesn't wanna shift at all, when I try to shift put on "D" or "manual" blinking green light and noising, not moving at all.
3) Engine break switch not working, lights not coming on.
4) Red Parking sign on display "P" not coming on, but both breaks working oK.
On View Active Faults shows:
-> MID 128 SID 231 FMI 9
-> MID 136 SID 1 FMI 2
-> MID 140 PSID 201 FMI 12
Light Control Module
-> MID 216 PSID 201 FMI 9
here is on => Vehicle ECU every time after I try to reset shows Operation Failed or Reset Failed.

Did it throw all these codes at the same time? If it did it can be caused by a low voltage condition, low voltage will throw off the readings to the computer and it won't know what to do.
You may want to check your trucks voltage when running, it should be at around 13.5 volts if much lower you probably have a charging system issue.
When shut off it should be around 12.5 volts may vary slightly depending on battery condition. If the voltage drops over time look for excessive current draw from a malfunctioning part of your electrical system, possible short in wiring, alternator or most likely the starter.this will dramatically shorten the life of your batteries or they may already be going bad.
If all is good then start looking at the wiring harness all these codes at once is most likely a communication problem between the computers in the truck(ECU, TCU, VCU /gauge cluster). Hopefully it is not one these with an issue as the gauge cluster can be a problem sometimes.
Start with making sure everything is getting proper voltage and has proper grounds.
Codes stick until you clear them from the diagnostics mode in the display panel, if it's active it will come right back, disconnecting the batteries will not do it.
