    Looking at changing things up after 5 years of reefer to the Northeast/Midwest. Currently average 2500 miles a week and home on most weekends. No experience in flatbedding but willing to learn. Prefer no mega companies, as I know how they roll. I work for a small company, 200 trucks. I see J Grady Randolph is hiring in Richmond, Va.

    The grass is not always greener. You are getting 2,500 miles a week and home on weekends...nothing wrong with that.
    I know who you drive for (their truck is in your Avatar)...they are a good company, you will not find much bad written about them on these boards.

    Very observant White Dog, I also see where your from, with all that aside, I have no qualms with said carrier. I believe in testing the waters, without curiosity, one falls into complacency. That is the problem with this industry. Regarding this board, I started one 5 years ago.

    This is probably the worst year I've seen to be looking for work in the flatbed world. The very fact that spot market rates have been lower than contract rates which are at an all time low will soon deter anyone that has anything reasonable going with van, reefer or anything else from staying under a flatbed.

    Waggoners Trucking Co. probably hires in VA.
    They have termnals all over the USA and one in WV.
