How is Swift's training free? Don't you still sign a contract? Don't they still take $70 a week out of your check each week? Don't you still owe Swift 4600 or whatever if you quit before it's paid off? Yes, they will pay it back in the second year, but how much money would a driver be losing over 2 years working for them and earning less?
Thanks to Sean for starting this thread, and to Wentfishing for providing the usefull first hand info.

If your a veteran...they don't take any $$ out of your check. After 1-year, you have fulfilled your commitment to Swift.

If it's free then they will not take money out of your check to put towards tuition costs but the problem is they're going to pay you pennies in relationship to what you could be making working for someone else so in the long run it does cost you money you just don't see the money taken out of your check because it was never there to begin with...

Also in recent changes, Knight has shut down both the Memphis and Indy schools. The only people that they are taking in those areas are people that have already graduated an approved trucking school and will go out with a trainer for 4 weeks. They are ONLY offering the CDL school out of Phoenix. If you are a veteran, you can use your post 9/11 for their Phoenix terminal. -
To be honest you would be better off getting your CDL through Conway freight simply because you will make twice as much money working for them as you would working for swift. Swift will take advantage of you for that first year
