Really all that has to be done to the General Lee ( any radio really ) is to convert to 11meter, set high and low carrier and adjust modulation level to service manual alignment guidelines and radio is good to go.

The best and most accurate way to see that all power is on the fundemental frequency ( and you are not bleeding other channels with harmonics) is to have radio checked with a scope and spectrum analyzer.

I ended up buying the radio last night. It was hacked up and I knew before I tested it. When I asked about the modulation limiter, he proudly said he removed it. The reason I decided to buy this radio anyway is because he was very accommodating with my schedule and I have been in contact with him for a while. Not sure if I'll buy any other radios from him. This afternoon, I shipped it out to Kelly in North Las Vegas to restore it and tune it up so it can work the way it is supposed to.

Kelly has a spectrum analyzer and an oscilloscope. That radio needs some love. He might even post a video making fun of the previous work done to it on his Facebook page....he does that sometimes!

I just messaged him requesting a video. If he gets around to it, I'll post the link.

I agree with you at that Craig, if I have to take it, or ship it, to a tech to fix someone elses golden screwdriver mess then the purchase price is coming down substantially, or I will spend a little bit more and buy a brand new, untouched radio, and the take it to a tech and get it converted and aligned.

Shipping was rough… Kelly said only the heat sink was bent. It can be fixed.
