How is it possible to order 2016 Cascadia and put a Detroit 12.7 with 1998 emission and called a glider, but you can not put the same 98 rebuilt detroit in your 2007 Columbia?

When you order it that way it comes with all the correct wiring etc. I don't believe you can order a factory installed 1998 motor in the truck but you can spec a 2004 factory installed.

Probably because your 2007 Columbia came from the factory with a 2007 (emissions engine) already installed in it. The 2016 Cascadia comes from the factory with no engine in it if bought as a glider. It's legal mumbo jumbo ways to get around the bull crap emissions laws. And the wiring issues are also probably a problem thanks to the friendly feds who get to dictate what kind of piece of crap post 2003 engine you can run.

From my understanding it would be illegal to put an engine manufactured before the truck itself if it came from the factory with an engine already installed. In other words, your 2007 Columbia would have to be fitted with a 2007 or newer engine because of the emissions laws. Gliders come from the factory with no engine installed so therefore they are exempt from this law (at least now). You could still probably do it (illegally) but with all the 07 garbage DPF, EGR etc it wouldn't be worth it and, good luck finding a mechanic that would be willing to go against the EPA laws. I'm sure some are out there but it's probably not worth your money.

2007 Columbia comes with 2006 engine wich is EGR ONLY, NO DPF.

Ok, so I can only put 2006 or newer engine? If I have to put a DD15 in this truck, is going to be even more hassle ..... New harness, new everything......
