Before buying new steers, have you had them balanced and the front end aligned???....I had a bad vibration and shimmy at 45 to 50mph....just had the steers balanced and aligned...vibration gone.....

Having said that, I'm down to 9/32 on the steers (drives are new General's) ....will be replacing the existing Goodyear's with the new Michelins in a couple of months....

Would have to agree. I have averaged about 223,000 miles on Michelin XZA3+ steers. And then, they still had 8-9/32 tread left, in great shape, and I got $150 each for them from my tire dealer every time. They could still sell them as used tires for a trailer.

I'm thinking about getting a pair of the 16ply XZA3+ as well. But, on their website, it doesn't look like the XZA3+ comes in a 295/75/22.5 like what's already on my truck. Only the XZA2 is listed in a 295/75 size.

Is the 275/80/22.5 close enough to the same size to run fine with the 295/75's on the drives or should I stick to keeping the steers and drives all the same?

Unless you're running something with extremely tight tolerances like a car hauler you'll be fine. Just keep the size the same across axles and axle groups.

I run Bridgestone R268 on the steers with centrematic balancers and have the alignment checked once a year. Very tough tire with even wear pattern rotating them every 50k miles. Get 175k miles out of a set taking them off at 5/32nds and I run high scrub regional work so if your OTR you'd probably do 200k easily.

Ive always had great luck with yokohamas. If i spelled it right. Ive always used 5 centering lug nuts on each steer also. Really only need 3 per wheel though. Balance every 40-50000.

I run northeastern regional and east coast OTR.. thinking once my tires are worn to the point of being junk.. I'm going to get new michelin xza3 steers and new virgin michilen drives,, with a 3 axle aliment... its gonna cost a nice penny but at least it will br worth it in the long run.. do u all run 105 psi in your steers and 95psi in your drives. Thats what mine are set at...

110 in my steers and 100 in my drives, then air them back up at 10psi under that when cold. In the summer if I'm running out west I'll bring them down to 100/90 to keep the hot psi under 130.
