I got my CDL in 2014, used it late 2014 to early 2015. In early 2015 I had to stop trucking for a period of time and now I'm looking to get back into it.
I have orientation at the Richmond VA terminal this Tuesday. I know for a fact that I will fail at backing a trailer, I'm only half sure I'll pass the driving test, and pretty sure I couldn't name but a few parts while doing the pre-trip inspection.
So what happens once the outcome of these tests aren't good?
Do I have to go to school for 3 weeks with Swift now, or do I get a mentor to help me get back up to speed? I have searched for hours for an answer but there is nothing relevant to my situation to be found. At this point I'm just working myself up wondering what the outcome will be.
Haven't driven for a year and some change.

Freymiller has a better option than Swift.
Swift can monitor your private conversations and phone calls inside the truck. They know what radio station you're listening to.
Abilene Motor Express right there in Richmond probably would have taken you if you talked to someone there. -

If there's anything Swift is good for its second chances.
Don't stress the road test, and if you already have your CDL they likely won't even make you do a pretrip.
The only way you can really fail the backing test I know of is if you hit something. So get out and look. You could even move the truck 2 feet at a time and get out and look 100 times and still not fail from what I was told.
Refresher students go through orientation and then out with a trainer for 2-3 weeks. -
Like CasanovaCruiser said. I know the road tester at Richmond and he's one of the good guys. Be straight up with the Swift people you talk to and they'll do what's appropriate for your situation and skill level to get you back up to speed.
Ignore about everything the #1 Swift troll Chinatown posts and you'll do fine.

Thanks for the reassurance folks. I just dread failure of any sort, especially when I really need to start making money asap.
