I just wondered where any of you o/o's get your health insurance if you are not getting it through the VA or on your wife's policy through her work.

I am considering getting my own truck and leasing it on to Superior. My biggest hurdle I feel is the cost of health insurance. Quotes I have seen on BCBS are between $1200-1300 per month which I feel is pretty high and would take a huge chunk out of my pocket every month.

If anyone can give me some advice on where to get quotes for decent and affordable family health insurance I would appreciate it.

    Wait for Trump....

Also, BCBS quotes aren't that high unless you are insuring 4 people or you are over 50 in poor health.

You have to have a policy that meets obamacare standards or pay a penalty. Welcome to the world of self employed.

That's about what I pay for my employees..... Why is it OK if an employer pays that rate, but if you're self employed, it's too much?

It's probably not, but ive never asked an employer to cover me. When my jumped up above that, I dropped it. It's cheaper for me to pay out of pocket and pay the penalty. Sucks though, I was paying $400/month for me and 2 kids with a fairly low deductible and good coverage with BCBS, then it went to $800 then over $1200 with a high deductible and worse coverage.

    Over 50 and $850 a month that's for a single plan.....

That one of many reasons that a $1 a mile doesn't cut it.....

You would think the rates would go down the more employees you added on to your health insurance regardless of number employees/size of company.

From people I have talked to at Superior the average rate seems to work out to $1.80 a mile. That would probably be okay if I can find a decent health insurance rate.
